Chesnok Red, a purple stripe hardneck variety, excels in zones 3-8.
Each order includes 1 pound of our premium seed garlic. Each bulb has about 6-10 cloves for planting. Our seed garlic is from our own naturally grown seed, perfected over half a decade.
Medium-Large bulbs at 1.75”-2.00” in diameter.
Your cured garlic bulbs come ready for planting. Split bulbs, plant cloves pointed side up, 1-2 feet apart in rows, 1 inch deep and 4 inches apart. Plant 4-6 weeks before last frost. Mulch with organic matter like leaves or straw for protection against extreme weather changes, weed control, and moisture retention.
The garlic usually takes 210 days to mature. Edible hardneck garlic scapes are ready 30-45 days before harvest. Check guidelines for your region. In Northern Illinois, we plant garlic before Columbus Day.

We have the right to refuse requests for refunds and replacements. If returns are agreed upon, the buyer is responsible for covering any and all shipping charges. We can not refund seed garlic after it has been separated and/ or planted. It is important to remember that seed garlic is perishable and we recommend that garlic is planted the season that they are purchased. We grow high quaility and very fertile garlic, however, the buyer is responsible for the growing conditions and overall outcome of their garlic crop.
